Amelia Island Playgrounds

There’s something magical about a good park day. When the sun’s out and the kids have energy to spare (which, let’s be honest, is basically every day), heading outside for a little fresh air and playtime just feels right.

Here on Amelia Island, we’re lucky to have some really special spots where families can gather, explore, and burn off some steam. These playgrounds are a few of our personal favorites — tried, tested, and approved by the Monkey Barrel crew. You can pack a picnic, swing by before lunch, or make a whole morning out of it. And the best part? They’re all close enough to stop by the shop and say hi after (and maybe grab that outfit you’ve been eyeing for your little adventurer).

Teddy Bear Park 🧸

1200 Atlantic Avenue, Fernandina Beach, Florida, 32034

This one’s a hidden gem tucked into a quiet neighborhood, and it’s perfect for toddlers and younger kiddos. It’s shaded (huge win), not too big, and just the right amount of excitement without being overwhelming. Popping over in the morning with a coffee in hand and a snack stash in the stroller is always a great idea here. Our go-to outfit? Something soft and stretchy that can handle slides, swings, and snack crumbs.

Pirate Playground 🏴‍☠️

2500 Atlantic Avenue, Amelia Island FL, 32034

This place is always a hit. It’s big, fenced in, and packed with everything a kid could want from climbing walls, musical features, a splash pad, and plenty of room to run wild. It’s kind of the ultimate playground stop on the island, and we love recommending it to friends and customers alike. Swimsuits under play clothes are key for this one — and don’t forget a towel and a change of clothes. You’ll need them!

  • Restrooms near by

  • Picnic tables

  • Wheelchair accessible

Main Beach Playground 🏖️

32 North Fletcher Avenue, Fernandina Beach, Florida, 32034

Playground & ocean breeze = yes, please. This spot sits right by the sand and is a favorite for a reason. The playground itself is great, there’s usually a good breeze, and when the kids are tired of climbing, you can head straight to the beach for shell-hunting or chasing waves. We recommend packing a beach bag just in case!

  • Pavilions & picnic tables

  • Beach Access

  • Open green space

Bonus Stop: Fort Clinch State Park

2601 Atlantic Ave., Fernandina Beach, FL, 32034

Okay, not technically a playground — but if you’ve got older kids or just want a little adventure, Fort Clinch is always a win. There are trails to explore, cannons to “ooh and ahh” over, and plenty of room to roam. It’s a great place for an afternoon that feels a little like a field trip but still super fun. Sneakers and comfy clothes are the way to go!

Amenities:

  • Restrooms near by

  • Wheelchair accessible

  • Water fountain

  • Picnic space

  • Plenty of additional things to explore & see

Wherever you end up, there’s nothing better than watching your kiddos run free, laugh loud, and end the day sandy, sweaty, and completely worn out. Bonus points if you remembered snacks. And if you need some cute, park-ready outfits? You know where to find us.
